So many projects to tackle!!

So after creating Jett's nursery I noticed Mike and I really enjoy DIY. We get so much satisfaction in creating something ourselves and letting creative juices flowing. ;-) So I decided I am going to DIY more for several reasons....
(1) Saves $$$ to DIY then buying things retail
(2) I love to customize just for us
(3) I just want to do it!

Some of the projects (mostly baby related) I plan to tackle before I go back to work are.... (this list seems long!)

  • Creating some of these baby legs/leg warmers for Jett.

I don'know how to sew or have a sewing machine, but I think I will take some classes from my mother in law on how to sew (she is super talented she created Jett's crib bedding). I think this will be the perfect project to start learning. Plus I think of how much I can DIY when I know how to sew!

  • Making myself a nursing cover
These nursing covers that are sold in the stores are ridiculously expensive. I figure I can make one at more than 1/2 their cost or less! Plus mine is going to look purrrty! :-)

  • Travel Diaper/Wipe Case
Not this exact design, but I want to cover my travel wipe case with something a little bit cuter than the lovely white plastic Huggies design it currently has.

  • Clothes Dividers

This is a project that I wanted to tackle before the baby got here um....that just didn't happen. I was too picky looking for the right style paper, but now I just need to do it. I really need a easier way to divide these clothes up in his closet. It's annoying to keep looking at the tags.

I will start tackling these projects soon and posting about them since my leave is going to be up soon or I will just do them in the middle of the night like I am blogging right now at 2:55 am. Ha! Gotta love those middle of the night feedings with the baby and unable to go back to sleep.

2013 Christmas Card

We've been sending out Christmas cards as a couple for a while now. Each year we try to be creative with them (past Christmas cards: 2009, 2010). Each year it gets harder and harder. We either add another dog or a kid. It's hard to get the dogs wrangled up and to look at the camera. It's even harder with kids! This year I tried to take some pictures of some inspiration I saw on pinterest. Here are some photos I took.

The card that I got through Shutterfly.com. Love them!

This year we've been extremely blessed with our new home, the birth of our second son, and a new great job. More importantly we are blessed to have each other. Merry Christmas everyone!! God Bless!

2013 Mother's Day....DIY photo gift

2013 Mother's Day was extra special this year with what my guys did for me. While I wasn't home Mike got out our camera, tripod, remote for the camera and started to take some beautiful DIY shots. His inspiration was "Jett's Day." From getting ready, napping, & going out. It just captured so many great moments of our little guy.

I love the sentimental gifts that kids make their parents. It is worth millions to me. So when I received my mother's day gift from my guys I heart just fluttered with excitement.

Here are the pics from the mini DIY session .....

Mike wanted to put all these great photos in a frame. He had J paint the matte so it was more personable.

The end result a DIY photo session with a toddler painted matte for Mother's Day. Something I will have and to cherish forever.

Jett's Vintage Train 3rd Birthday Party!

I was really excited about planning Jett's party because we would throw the party at our new home. So many possibilities!! I always try to brainstorm ideas months prior to the party so I can slowly come up with stuff and create them. I started to think of things that Jett was really into at this part of his life.

He loves planes, but we did that for his 1st birthday. He loves tractor, we did that for his 2nd party. Now at almost 3 he loved trains and Superman! So I asked Jett in November, "Jett do you want a choo-choo train party or Superman?" and Jett yells, "CHOO CHOO TRAIN!!" PERFECT!!

I was now thinking of things to do and how to decorate for this party. Of course everything has to start with the invitation. I created the invitation myself. I went with a old style boarding pass.

You can now purchase this invitation, but personalized  at my Etsy store!
I printed these in cardstock and then stuffed them in kraft paper envelope that I purchased at Hobby Lobby …
